A carload of captives from the Jewish ghetto of Lublin, rumbles toward the Belzec death camp. The German authorities began liquidating the Lublin Jews on March 17, 1942. By May 9, some 30,000 of them had been deported, and only 4,000 were still left in Lublin. 

Jews from Hungary, newly arrived at Auschwitz, pass a camp officer whose task it was to determine their fate.  About 10 per cent, mostly men, were sent to the work camp.  The crippled, the ill, the elderly, and women and young children were automatically sent to the gas chambers. 

A guard keeps watch on Mauthausen's main square, where inmates were often forced to stand naked for a day and a night.  This was quite common treatment for new prisoners. 

Naked women,  some clutching their children,  waiting in line to be shot near the ravine at Babi Yar at the edge of  Kyiv (also known as Kiev) where mass executions took place.

His hands clenched in a death grip, a Mauthausan prisoner who committed suicide hangs from the electrified barbed-wire fence surrounding the compound. 

About 900,000 Jews were killed in gas chambers at the Treblinka death camps. Because women and children were not strong enough to do heavy labor, they were amongst the first to be gassed.

Simon Rozenkier lost his parents and four siblings during the holocaust.  He survived five concentration camps, including the so-called "zoo camp" run by the infamous Mengele.  He was left sterilized from the medical experiments inflicted upon him the Nazis and is now suing two German pharmaceutical giants, Bayer and Schering, for complicity in those experiments. 

Mr. Rozenkier welcomes financial support to help defray the high legal costs involved in progressing his lawsuit.
